Drain Cover Safety Recall
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), several VGB-Approved drain covers are being recalled because they were incorrectly rated for protection against body entrapment by independent third party laboratories. Not all covers or applications are affected, but the CPSC has identified several covers by manufacturer and model number. To determine if your pool or in-ground spa drain cover is subject to the recall, call the Drain Cover Recall Hotline toll free at 866-478-3521 or contact the drain cover manufacturer directly.
Customers will not incur costs for reasonable replacement/retrofit of recalled drain covers that are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Pool Owners must register with the manufacturer of the recalled drain cover and, where applicable, have the service performed by the manufacturer's authorized service provider, in order to avoid incurring costs for the replacement or retrofit of recalled covers.
Of the covers that we distribute, some (but not all) covers manufactured by AquaStar, Hayward Pool Products, Pentair, Waterway Plastics, and Lawson Aquatics are subject to the recall. None of the Eureka Manufacturing VGB stainless steel covers or fiberglass grates are subject to the recall. If you have any questions about whether or not your covers are subject to the recall, please review the list at the website linked above or contact the manufacturer directly.
